The Bad Batch Season 3 Release Date: Everything We Know So Far

Where Star Wars – The Bad Batch: Season 2 Left Us

The Bad Batch fits right in with some of the rest of our favorite Star Wars animated television series. Hidden within an adventure-a-week type of storytelling is a dark story, and one that attempts to answer some a big question within the Star Wars fandom – What happened to the Clones?

In season one, we’re introduced to the Bad Batch – a group of Clones that have genetic differences. Hunter, a clone with enhanced senses, Tech, the tech genius, Wrecker, a strong meathead, Crossfire, a fantastic sniper clone, and (eventually) Echo, a previously thought dead Clone Trooper who joins Clone Force 99 after being rescued from the Separatists Forces.  Oh yeah, and he’s a cyborg now.

Soon into season one they’re joined by Omega, a female clone created from the genetic material of Jango Fett, much like Boba. Omega joins their forces and escapes Kamino with them, now a member of the team. Omega, still a child who’s learning about the world, is often their voice of good. Many of their good-hearted missions are at her urging.

While most of our Clone Troopers choose to defect officially from the Empire, Crossfire chooses to stay behind, under the belief that it is still his duty as a soldier to follow orders. Crossfire ends up heading the search to get Omega back. But…while our characters go through their own adventures, the Empire is making their own moves. The season finale culminates in the complete destruction of Kamino. Crossfire almost captures Omega and the rest of the crew – but in the end he makes his own decision and lets the team get away.

During season 2, Senator Palpatine convinces the senate to officially move away from Clones and make the full jump into conscripted Storm Troopers.

Sadly, it seems our clones don’t have much agency here. Still on the run from the Empire (and doing some silly little tasks for an alien smuggler Cid), our favs seem to be stuck without a place to call home. It isn’t until they get to the pirate planet of Pabu that they seem to find some sort of home. Of course that all goes haywire when they learn that Crossfire has been captured. A rescue mission ensues but of course it isn’t easy. Unfortunately, our technology guru Tech falls down a shaft of some kind and tragically dies (so we think), and the rest of the team ends up captured. Omega is taken away on her own, and the team ends the season separated and demoralized.

Which Characters Can We Expect in Bad Batch Season 3?

Emperor Palpatine

The terrifying Emperor Palpatine will have to make an appearance in Bad Batch season 3. Having made the biggest decisions against the clones in season 1 and 2, we can only guess what Palpatine will do with the cloning technology that he wants – and with Nala Se, the Kaminoan scientist who understands the cloning process better than anyone. Will this answer some questions to how Palpatine was able to return in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker?

Fennec Shand

The bounty hunter turned Omega-savior should make a return in Season 3. We’ll see in what capacity soon, but we hope she’s got another fight up her sleeve. Her previous combat with Cad Bane is one of the highlights of season 1!

Clone Troopers

Ah, the clone troopers. Sadly, it seems their story is coming to a close, as the Empire moves away from clones and into Storm Troopers full-time. Hopefully we don’t witness too much tragedy regarding our rule-following “regular” clones.

Omega

Omega will 100% be in season 3 of the Bad Batch. She’s a member of the Clone Force 99 family, and her rescue will be a big plot point of season 3. We’ve already seen her in the season 3 trailer, even if she’s still trapped, we hope it won’t be that way for long.

Clone Force 99

The titular characters of The Bad Batch! Season 3 will bring us our favorite clones, as they attempt to save both Crossfire and Omega. Hopefully their endings in this story aren’t too depressing, as Star Wars animated tv shows tend to do to our favorite characters. We have hope that this final season will pull on our heart strings without making us sob into our pillows too hard.

Is Season 3 the Final Bad Batch Season?

Like stated above, season 3 will be the final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. We’re sad to see our favorite clones go, but excited to see how the writers will wrap up their stories! After the cliffhanger in the season 2 finale, season 3 is going to be filled with adventure, loss, and emotion. Can’t wait!

The Importance of Clone Force 99

We’re going to miss Clone Force 99. Hunter, Wrecker, Tech (RIP, maybe?), Echo, and even Crossfire! These unique clones were like a little family, and once Omega was part of their crew, they really were like a family. They’ve have shown us that clones are capable of choice and choosing good, and Omega has pushed them even farther in that direction. Crossfire’s recent movement to the good sign was so great to see, and we’re so excited to see more of his own personal journey in season 3.

Meanwhile, in the actual plot, Clone Force 99 is currently on the run from the Empire. As unique Clones with special skills, and since they’re aware of some of the Empire secrets, such as the true reason Kamino was destroyed, it’s most likely that the Empire wants them completely out of the picture. That’s part of the reason that Crossfire and Omega were taken at the end of season 2. Although, our bad batch did attempt to save Crossfire at the end of season 2… things went pretty badly. Let’s hope that Clone Force 99 won’t be losing anymore members in season 3.
