Batman Is About to Face His Toughest Challenge Yet: Fatherhood

Holy puberty, Batman!

The trailer for Batman vs. Robin officially hit the internet a few days ago and Batman certainly has his hands full – with being a father, that is. You can watch the trailer below.

This movie, the next in DC Comics’ animated canon, follows the well-received Son of Batman. In that film, Bruce Wayne became father in a way he had never been with Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, or Tim Drake. After his ex-flame, Talia al Ghul, left their son, Damian Wayne, in his car, he took on a big challenge.

Damian is rebellious and destructive and it doesn’t look like much has changed in the way of that between the two films. Between stealing the Batmobile and Bruce installing an electric fence to keep his son in, their relationship is just as tense as ever.

The film is partly based on the 2011-2012 comic run Batman: The Court of Owls, which was more about Dick Grayson as Nightwing than Damian. In the movie, the Court of Owls seems to be trying to lure Damian away from the vigilante life.

Jason O’Mara, Stuart Allan, Sean Maher, and David McCallum will reprise their roles of Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and Alfred respectively. Jeremy Sisto will be playing lead Owl assassin Talon and Weird Al Yankovic (yes, you read that right) as The Dollmaker, a villain who’s backstory seems far too twisted for a PG-13 film.

Batman vs. Robin will premiere at WonderCon in April and then hit DVD, Blu-Ray, and VOD shortly after.
