In Independence Day 2, director Roland Emmerich seeks to explore what the world would look like if we repelled an alien invasion 20 years ago.
We reported that Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role in the sequel, alongside Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox. Newcomers include Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Jessie Usher.
However, they aren’t the only returning actors and newly added cast members!
Emmerich announced two more people on Twitter yesterday:
This just in… @JoeyKingActress and @BrentSpiner officially signed for #IndependenceDay – Welcome aboard!

Brent Spiner (Data in Star Trek) will reprise his role as Dr. Okun. Joey King worked with Emmerich previously in White House Down.
In the first film, it seemed like Dr. Okun didn’t make it through the alien invasion. Perhaps we saw wrong or new technology will bring him back? Maybe he’ll play another android character!
All we know so far about the sequel is that it will feature another alien invasion. However, we’ve had twenty years to prepare for this one, so we should be able to handle ourselves.
Independence Day 2, directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, and Joey King, is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.
