Captain America: Civil War Tracking for Massive $175 Million Opening Weekend Box Office

Captain America: Civil War, Marvel’s next big film, opens in less than a month and already boasts a 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes out of 18 reviews.

With those initial numbers, it should come as no surprise that it’s currently tracking for a massive domestic box office opening weekend. In fact, strategists are predicting it will make at least $175 million in North America alone. Others are saying it could even approach $200 million.

This would put it in the running for top five best opening weekends of all time, behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248 million), Jurassic World ($208.8 million), The Avengers ($207.4 million) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191.3 million).

The Mouse House certainly isn’t doing too bad for itself.

This new Marvel movie pits Captain America (Chris Evans) against Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) as they find themselves at odds over a government mandate regarding superheroes.

Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey. Jr, Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Renner, Daniel Brühl, Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Emily VanCamp, Martin Freeman, and Don Cheadle, is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
