Well, “jolly” might not be an adjective applied all that frequently to Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise (both NCC-1701-D and -E). But he’s without doubt one of Starfleet’s finest, and a role model to not only his crew in Star Trek: The Next Generation but also many of the show’s fans in real life.
