As we learned in Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill isn’t 100% an A-hole. Well Chris Pratt, the actor behind the joking Star Lord, stepped up the game by visiting the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in his epic Star Lord costume. Pratt is truly one of the coolest actors ever.
The Guardians star was vocal about wanting to visit hospitalized children. He told Panzer TV, “I stole the jacket and some of the wardrobe so that, if this movie comes out and does what everyone hopes it can, I can follow the example of someone — say, like, a (Seattle Seahawks quarterback) Russell Wilson — and go visit kids.” He added that the film would truly have meaning if it were popular enough for children to want visits from Star-Lord.
Children’s Hospital tweeted the photo from Pratt’s visiting, writing “Star lord cheered up our patients by sharing #GuardiansoftheGalaxy! Thanks for making them smile!”
Not only did Chris Pratt take his Star-Lord costume, he followed through on that promise, spending more than three hours in full costume when he went to the Children’s Hospital. He even let his fans try on Star Lord’s duds.
The star behind the renegade hero handed out Guardians toys and joined a special screening with hospitalized children. Those patients who could not attend the screening got a special visit. Pratt spent time with patients in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases, and the Pediatric ICU.
Among those visits was a very special trip to see Dylan “Lego Kid” Prunty. Prunty is an eight year old with a vast love of Lego and a mitochondrial disease. He even has a Lego replica of the Children’s Hospital. Naturally, the Lego Kid would recognize the voice behind Emmet, the main character in The Lego Movie. Pratt and Prunty recited scenes from the film together.
Chris Pratt may very well be an angel in a leather jacket.
