Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Confirms Talks to Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Movie

The new Tomb Raider film secured a director and writer in November, but now it might be close to landing its lead actress.

Daisy Ridley, best known for playing Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter at the recent Empire Awards that her rumored talks to star in Tomb Raider are, in fact, real.

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” she confided, indicating that while talks are happening, an offer hasn’t been made yet.

Star Wars fans shouldn’t be worried by this, though. Ridley, who’s currently filming Episode VIII, said that she’s “trying to fill up her calendar” and she’ll have time to do both.

Her Star Wars co-star John Boyega was also at the award show (they picked up Best Male and Female Newcomer Awards, respectively) and was extremely enthusiastic about Ridley taking the role. In fact, he even told THR that he texted her that she needs to take the role.

I have to say I agree with Boyega. Not that I’m particularly attached to the Tomb Raider franchise in any way, but Ridley proved herself a solid actress and action star in The Force Awakens, so I just want to see her in more movies.

Tomb Raider, directed by Roar Uthaug, is set to arrive next year.
