Fan-Favorite Greek Assassin Cast in Daredevil Season 2

We know you guys were really excited when Punisher was cast in Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2, so we have a feeling you’ll be excited about even more casting news!

Marvel announced that Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, District 13: Ultimatum) has joined the cast as fan-favorite Elektra!

Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, excitedly spoke about the news:

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

While the French-Cambodian actress is not well-known, she certainly looks the part (despite not being Greek, which some fans are noticing) and given her experience as ninja Jinx in G.I. Joe, we think she’ll be able to pull off the physicality of Elektra as well. Even before G.I. Joe, she boasted a black belt in karate!

Often considered an antagonist or anti-hero at best, she is Daredevil’s most well-known love interest but her mercenary lifestyle often divides them.

The first season of Daredevil gave a nameless shout-out to Elektra but now that it’s confirmed she’ll be in Season 2, we’re all the more excited. The addition of both her and Punisher should make for a thrilling and captivating Season 2.

And no need to worry about new faces taking the spots of old favorites! Season 2 has already starting shooting and we got our first look at Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson):

Everything, truly, is right with the world again.

Netflix and Marvel’s The Defenders will continue with Jessica Jones later this year and Luke Cage and Daredevil Season 2 sometime in 2016.
