It’s True! Darkwing Duck Is Coming Back… In Comic Book Form

Okay, so that Darkwing Duck TV reboot rumor this morning was totally an April Fool’s joke from last year.

But the popular crimefighting duck, modeled after Batman, is coming back in a new way. How, you ask? In comic form!

Joe Books will be publishing an ongoing comic about the duck, set to debut in April. It’ll bring back writer Aaron Sparrow and artist James Silvani, who both worked on the 2011 Darkwing Duck comic by BOOM! Studios, and Andrew Dalhouse, Deron Bennett and Jesse Post, will join them as the creative team.

There’s no word yet on what the angle of the series will be, but I certainly hope it reunites Darkwing with his sidekicks Launchpad McQuack and Gosalyn, Darkwing’s daughter.

(We all know Launchpad was the best, by the way.)

The original Darkwing Duck animated series was a spinoff of DuckTales and first premiered in 1991. It depicted hero Darkwing Duck taking on villains like the Shadow, the Sandman, Doc Savage, and the Lone Ranger.

Are you excited for the Darkwing Duck comic? What are your favorite parts about this series? Let us know in the comments!

And be sure to see more Disney here.
