When fans in New York and Los Angeles went to an event hosted by Fox to see “first look footage” of Deadpool, they had no idea what they were getting into.
Turns out, this first look footage actually meant a surprise screening of the whole film! Presented by cast and crew!
Ryan Reynolds, who plays the fourth-wall breaking mercenary himself, showed up to the New York screening:
Meanwhile, T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and Stan Lee were at the Los Angeles screening.
Talk about an awesome surprise!
The Deadpool marketing team continues to kill it and I am so ready for this film.
Of course, a surprise screening also means we have some of our first reactions to the much anticipated movie.
Deadpool was amazing. Hi @nottjmiller pic.twitter.com/DBRSW1njnt

And like all marvel movies, make sure you wait for the tag at the end of the credits! Self aware and referential, perfect Deadpool.

At least now we know there’s a post-credits scene! But who’s surprised?
We’re all excited for this film, and hoping it will be good, but it’s probably best to remember these reactions are adrenaline-driven. If you got a surprise screening of Deadpool with the cast and crew, you’d be over the moon too. Which isn’t to say these reactions are wrong, or the movie won’t be amazing (because I hope it will be!), but that context is important.
Still, it’s very cool!
Deadpool is set to hit theaters on February 12, 2016. It’s directed by Tim Miller and stars Ryan Reynolds, Ed Skrein, TJ Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Andre Tricoteux, and Morena Baccarin.
What are you hoping for from this film? Let us know in the comments!
And be sure to check out all we have on Deadpool.
