Demon Slayer: Twelve Kizuki Demon Rankings

The members of Muzan Kibutsuji’s demon army make up the Twelve Kizuki, and these terrifying demons are Tanjiro’s number one challenge so far! Our main heroes run into them often, and due to their unique and interesting Demon Moon Powers, they constantly prove themselves as tough challengers. We’ve decided to rank these demons by how powerful they really are, and how cool their demon moon power really is. If you’re looking for a ranking of the Demon Slayer Hashira, we’ve got that for you too! Lastly, check out all of the awesome Demon Slayer action figures, statues, and more, available right here at Entertainment Earth. Now on to the Demon Rankings…

#13 Kyogai

Kyogai was excommunicated after losing a battle to Tanjiro Kamado during the Mount Natagumo Arc, and that sort of thing puts him at the bottom of the list. While embarrassing for him, it did seem like he wanted to be freed, as his last moments in the episode were spent lamenting about his demon-hood and the control that Muzan had over him.

#12 Mukagoji

Mukagoji is officially the lowest member of the Twelve Kizuki, ranking as Lower Rank 6. While he also controls his own blood, much like Doma, his is a little less impressive. He can create an interesting blood mist, which hides his attacks from his opponent. Overall, Mukagoji doesn’t make much of an impact on us.

#11 Rui

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Rui Pop! Vinyl Figure

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Rui Pop! Vinyl Figure

While Rui’s Blood Demon Art wasn’t the strongest, it was definitely one of the most creative. Rui would trap other lower-level demons in his web on the mountain, and in exchange for their lives, they would take his blood become multitudes stronger.

#10/#9 Gyuutaro & Daki

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Gyutaro Vol. 10 Demon Series Statue

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Gyutaro Vol. 10 Demon Series Statue

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Daki Demon Series Vol. 9 Statue

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Daki Demon Series Vol. 9 Statue

These two demons take up spots 10 and 9 in our list, but in the anime, Gyuutaro holds Lower Rank 6 and Daki Lower Rank 3. As brother and sister, their connection is strong, and that makes their fighting style hard to beat. One uses brute strength, while the other is able to weaponize her manipulation tactics. Once Tanjiro and Nezuko had teamed up with Inosuke, they were able to take them both down. In the end, the two demons were turned to dust, and Tanjiro and Nezuko moved onto the next threat.

#8 Enmu

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Enmu Shake The Sword Burn Your Heart Ichiban Statue

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Enmu Shake The Sword Burn Your Heart Ichiban Statue

Enmu’s ability to put people to sleep and basically kill them in their dreams makes him one of the scariest and probably also one of the strongest of the Lower Rank demons. In the end, it took multiple slayers just to take him out! Enmu is definitely stronger than the some of the demons on this list, and his eyes invoke a little bit of fear, even now. #8 is a solid spot to place him.

#7 Kaigaku

Kaigaku’s entire arc in the manga and the anime is one of best of the series. His betrayal of the Demon Slayer Corp and the move to the other side is incredibly hurtful to our main characters, especially Kaigaku also proved to be incredibly powerful, and his Demon Blood Art provided him with such fast reflexes and strong lightning powers that he was difficult to take down. But in the end, Zenitsu was able to do it!

#6 Gyokko

While Gyokko’s ability to control trees around him is an incredibly interesting demon power, he gets taken down by Tanjiro easily. Tanjiro is able to exploit his weakness of sight- eventually causing Gyokko to tumble to his death and to his spot 6 of this list.

#5 Hantengu

Hantengu’s unique ability to split himself up into multiple copies and demons makes him a very formidable foe. However, the fact that all of these copies are connected by an invisible string made for an easy death once our slayers figured it out.

#4 Nakime

Namike is an incredibly intelligent and level-headed demon, often working as the strategist for Muzan Kibutsuji. She also manages the demons that are part of the Twelve Kizuki, and she works to ensure their loyalty. Nakime does not participate in battle, rather, her demon blood art works to bend reality and keep the slayers in a never-ending empty space. However, our heroes were able to escape, and Nakime was defeated.

Top 3 Most Powerful Demons

#3 Akaza

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Akaza Nendoroid Action Figure

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Akaza Nendoroid Action Figure

Who doesn’t love mutual respect between a hero and a villain? Akaza shares this respect with Kyojuro Rengoku, both of them appreciating the other’s abilities and determination for their craft. While Akaza’s demon moon power isn’t the most creative (Kaio-ken anyone?), Akaza ranks high in this list due to his insane power. His Demon Moon Power, called “moon breathing” raises his physical abilities tenfold, and makes him one of the slayers toughest opponents.

#2 Doma

Doma’s demon blood art is quite literal, as it gives him the ability to control blood and use it as a weapon. His “Blood Demon Art” can change blood into almost anything, at one point creative super sharp and hard-to-dodge knives, and at another an army of humanoid creatures. He can also control the emotions and bodies of anyone who has come into contact with his blood. It’s hard not to rank Doma number one, as this “Blood Demon Art” is super grotesque and terrifying.

#1 Kokushibo

Occupying Upper Rank 1, Kokushibo is the strongest of the twelve demons, and we really couldn’t rank him anywhere else. Not only is Kokushibo’s Demon Moon Power incredibly difficult to overcome, but his cool and calm demeanor makes him one of the coolest antagonists in the anime. His defeat was one of the most intense battles of the show, as Tanjiro, Muichiro, and Giyu worked together to take him down. Tanjiro’s ability to use the “Transparent World” attack was finally able to finish him off. Kokushibo’s weakness was miniscule, and the slayers definitely had to dig deep to take him out. He has to hold the number one spot in our books.

FAQs:

What are the demon ranks in Demon Slayer in order?

The Twelve Kizuki are divided into Upper and Lower ranks. As you can probably guess, the 6 Upper Rank demons are higher than the 6 Lower Rank demons, and they are reach ranked in the story like this:

  • Upper Moon 1 – Kokushibo
  • Upper Moon 2 – Doma
  • Upper Moon 3 – Akaza
  • Upper Moon 4 – Hantengu
  • Upper Moon 5 – Gyokko
  • Upper Moon 6 – Kaigaku
  • Lower Moon 1 – Enmu
  • Lower Moon 2 – Nakime
  • Lower Moon 3 – Rui
  • Lower Moon 4 – Gyuutaro
  • Lower Moon 5 – Daki
  • Lower Moon 6 – Mukagoji

What rank is Nezuko?

Since Nezuko isn’t a part of the Twelve Kizuki, she doesn’t get a demon rank. She does however have her own demon blood art, as well super-fast reflexes and the ability to grow and shrink in size.

What rank is Tanjiro as a demon?

Same thing applies here! Since Tanjiro is not a demon (and is instead a Demon Slayer), he does not get a ranking. If we were to speculate and guess where Tanjiro might be, we would guess amongst the Upper Moons, as his determination and skill level are really high!
