UPDATE 9/15: According to IGN, there will be a new game but it’s called Kingdom Hearts II.8: Final Chapter Prologue for Playstation 4. It will be another compilation game consisting of an HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance, scenes from Unchained X called Back Cover, and Birth by Sleep 0.2 – A Fragmentary Passage. The trailer will officially drop on Thursday, September 17th.
In the never-ending series of “will we ever get Kingdom Hearts 3,” there has been a development about not only that game but a new installment in the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
Revealed by KH13, a LinkedIn profile for a Square Enix employee shows details for KH3, as well as another game curiously titled Kingdom Hearts 2.9.
Check it out for yourself!
There is a chance the profile could be fake, especially given it only has two connections, but KH13 verified the connections. There’s also the little detail that 2.9 appeared on a schedule for Square Enix at E3 2015 before being taken off.
The profile reveals that 2.9 would be for both PS3 and PS4, which probably indicates a release relatively soon (perhaps next year?).
However, even more interesting are the KH3 details, from mulitplayer functions to new Gummi Ship capabilities, as well as, finally, Pixar being introduced to the KH universe.
Until this is proven one way or the other, I’m going to keep daydreaming about these possibilities and yelling into the void about KH3. Remember, kids, it’s been almost ten years since KH2, three years since the last official game (Dream Drop Distance), and one year since the last collection (Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix).
So what do you guys think? Is it fake or real? What would 2.9 be about? WHEN WILL WE GET KINGDOM HEARTS 3?
