Ewan McGregor and Others Eyed for Doctor Strange

Marvel Studios is reportedly considering Ewan McGregor to play the title role in Doctor Strange. According to Variety, McGregor is just one of six actors in the mix for the role of Doctor Strange with the other five being Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, Jake Gyllenhaal, Episode VII’s Oscar Isaac, and past rumored contenders Ethan Hawke and Oscar winner Jared Leto.

Scott Derrickson of Sinister is directing the film with a script written by Jon Spaihts. Earlier drafts of the script had been written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.

Doctor Strange was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Strange made his first appearance in 1963’s “Strange Tales” #110, which follows the adventures of Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon who loses precision in his hands following a car accident. He becomes the ‘Master of the Mystic Arts’ while attempting to regain his former skills.

No official release date has been set for the film, production schedule suggests that Doctor Strange will land in 2016.
