Rumor of the Day: Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi to Appear in Episode VIII?

If you grew weary of all the speculation before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, well, get ready for several more years of it.

The latest one comes from Kristian Harloff of Schmoes Know and Collider, who brought up the aspect most people agree on as the best part of the prequels: Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi.

A couple days ago, she tweeted this interesting tidbit about Episode VIII:

It’s something fans have long wanted – Ewan McGregor reprising his Jedi role in some capacity, at least.

And it doesn’t seem like an entirely impossible rumor, either. After all, he had a little involvement in The Force Awakens. Check out this video of him talking about it on Jimmy Kimmel Live!:

Clearly, him appearing as a Force ghost would mean more involvement than a simple voiceover, but it seems clear that McGregor would be up for it. And if that other rumor that Rey turns out to be a Kenobi or, better yet, a Kenobi-Skywalker, comes true, it would be even more crucial to give McGregor a part in this new trilogy.

At least, we can dream.

Star Wars: Episode VIII, directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Andy Serkis, is set to arrive on December 15, 2017.

What do you think? Would you like to see Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan again? Let us know!
