Start Making Room in Your TV Schedule for Supergirl and The Flash/Arrow Spinoff

640 dc shows

Listen up, DC fans! If you love Arrow and The Flash, you’ll be pleased to know that its spinoff and Supergirl have both been picked up to series!

What does this mean? It means that both shows will be getting a full first season!

The new series about the girl from Krypton, starring Melissa Benoist, got greenlit from CBS. The exact number of episodes have not been revealed, but the show will hit the network later this year.

supergirl As for the untitled spinoff, one of its stars, Victor Garber (Dr. Stein), gave the scoop to BroadwayWorld:

“I really honestly can’t tell you much about it except it is completely new and it will involve a lot of interesting people. […] We haven’t filmed any of it yet – but, it is going straight to series. We start filming in August and it will be on in January.”

If the spinoff is going to be a midseason series, we have to wonder how many episodes will be in its first season. Midseason shows are typically shorter.

It will follow a team consisting of: Brandon Routh’s Atom, Victor Garber’s Dr. Martin Stein, Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell’s Heat Wave, Caity Lotz’s Canary, Ciara Renée’s Hawkgirl, Arthur Darvill’s Rip Hunter, and Franz Drameh’s Jay Jackson.

Curiously, the team (along with Stephen Amell’s Arrow and Grant Gustin’s Flash) was seen together a few weeks ago:

Could we see them gathered together earlier than January?

Both new series hail from Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, who also do Arrow and The Flash, so fingers crossed we’ll get plenty more cross-overs in the future!
