It feels like we’ve been talking about the Ghostbusters reboot for ages now, hasn’t it? Creating our wishlist of cast members, wondering if original cast members will have cameos, and all of that fun stuff. Now at least we have one of our questions answered with a confirmed cast for the reboot!

One thing’s for certain: our all-female Ghostbusters crew has a lot of Saturday Night Live experience to support them.
The central cast will include SNL alum Kristen Wiig, previous SNL host Melissa McCarthy, and current SNL cast members Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Two of these ladies, Wiig and McCarthy made Bill Murray’s dream cast, and McKinnon and Jones beat out other hopefuls such as Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Rebel Wilson.
Reports indicate the filming will begin in June with a targeted release of 2016. Feig previously said he’s going for a scarier tone with this film but we now know the comedy element is in good hands. Wiig and McCarthy proved themselves in films the past few years, and McKinnon and Jones are some of the best current cast members on SNL.
As we get closer and closer to filming, there will undoubtedly be more casting news, perhaps original cast members will return as cameos or maybe even those funny ladies who didn’t make the cut in smaller roles!
