Fall TV is right around the corner which means promos galore for various shows. Today? A new clip from Gotham Season 2.
While this series is an origin story for Batman characters across the board, good and bad, it leans heavily toward villains. FOX has even dubbed Season 2 “Rise of the Villains.” So of course this new clip, which you can watch below, is set in the heart of dark, dank Arkham Asylum.
In the clip, we see Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) lounging and reading a magazine when she’s approached by Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome Valeksa – who may or may not be the Joker. There’s not much subtlety in the scene, but from Barbara’s striped prison dress, the show still playing up her femininity, there’s something that reads deliciously like a comic book about the whole scene.
Barbara is clearly unimpressed by Jerome, and seems quite bored. She’s a character who’s had a very up and down arc so far, but this could be the tipping point for her and might very well be her saving grace as a character.
As for Jerome – well, Monaghan’s not even trying to hide Joker-like qualities in his performance. But is it a red herring? Guess we’ll just have to keep watching!
Gotham season 2 will premiere Monday, September 21st on FOX.
