Harry Potter Sequel Play Casts Adult Harry, Ron, and Hermione

When we first announced that Harry Potter was getting a sequel in the form of a play, we were really excited.

Now, the adult versions of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger have officially been cast for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and we’re even more excited!

Jamie Parker, currently starring in Guys and Dolls, will take on the role of the Boy Who Lived, years after he defeated the evil Lord Voldemort.

The bookish Hermione Granger will be played by Noma Dumezweni, an Olivier Award-winning actress (for A Raisin in the Sun). She was even in an episode of Doctor Who!

Lastly, Paul Thornley will play resident king, Ron Weasley. He was recently in the film London Road and has appeared on stage in productions such as The Three Musketeers.

They look great and it’s going to be so cool to see the characters we’ve grown up with all grown up themselves now. That’s if you’re lucky enough to get to London to see the play at all.

Here’s the synopsis for the story:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

It will be staged in two parts and previews begin on June 7, 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London.
