Jena Malone’s Rumored Role in Batman v Superman Has Changed Drastically

Despite never receiving explicit confirmation that Jena Malone will be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and she’s still listed as rumored on IMDB), the news has been generally accepted since it broke last October.

For a long time, it was believed she would be playing a Carrie Kelly version of Robin from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. However, that may not be true anymore.

The Latino Review revealed today that she will actually be playing Barbara Gordon, the civilian name of both Batgirl and Oracle. Which alter ego Barbara will be operating under in the film remains to be seen but they’re both awesome so I’m excited either way!

There’s no knowing why the rumors changed so drastically – perhaps Barbara worked better for the story (it’s rumored Commissioner Gordon will be dead in this universe, so there’s story to explore there) or they determined Carrie Kelly wasn’t known enough. However, this does support the theory that the film, unlike previous Batman films, will explore the Batkids.

Whether or not Malone will actually appear in the film, she’d be a great addition. Having previously appeared in films like The Hunger Games, Sucker Punch (another Zack Snyder film), and Pride & Prejudice, she’s definitely a talented actress.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Laurence Fishburne, is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.

What do you think of Jena Malone as Barbara Gordon? Would you want to see her as Batgirl, Oracle, or Robin? Take your pick in the comments!
