Fans of the Jurassic franchise were in for a treat when they watched Super Bowl LII. A new segment for the upcoming sequel Jurassic Word: Fallen Kingdom graced our eyeballs. With each new trailer, I get more and more excited for this movie, and I’m sure you do too!
In the first trailer released a few months ago, we learned the dinosaurs living on the abandoned island face the threat of an active volcano erupting. Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), Owen (Chris Pratt), and some new faces team up to try and save the animals from extinction (again).
Now it appears that there will be more to this story! Specifically, there seems to be some Jurassic Park: The Lost World elements taking place. It appears that the dinosaurs are traveling to the mainland! The trailer opens with a young girl cowering in bed as a menacing dino (new hybrid?) approaches.
Countering that scene is footage of Owen with baby Blue (MY HEART) alongside Claire’s whimsical voiceover reminiscing about the awe of seeing a real dinosaur for the first time. We then hear dialogue from a walking suit explaining that “Jurassic World, the island, all of that is in the past. I want to show you the future.”
We’ll have to wait for the film to debut for us to know exactly what that means. However, I have some guesses. We see footage of a gasping crowd as a cage is wheeled past them. Claire wonders aloud what the mysterious creature is and a young girl responds that “they made it.”
Could this be the fully trained military raptors that Hoskins (Vincent D’Onofrio) so desperately wanted in the previous film? Or perhaps it’s finally the dino/human hybrid concept that was scrapped several films ago? Whatever it is, it’s leaving our main characters terrified.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters June 22. What was your favorite part of this trailer? Will you be at the theater opening night? Let us know in the comments!
