Fans of the Green Lantern Corps might just get their wish after all! The Wrap recently reported that a yet unnamed Green Lantern will play “a key sequence” in the upcoming Justice League feature film. Not only that, it is now rumored that Armie Hammer would play the role. However, since this is an unconfirmed report, I would take this news with a grain of salt.
The latest official announcement from Warner Bros. actually states that we won’t like likely see a member of the corps until 2019. In fact, Warner Bros. Pictures President, Greg Silverman, had this to say in March 2016:
“I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in [the second Justice League film], or barring that, a movie after.”
We’ll have to wait and see until the Justice League premiere on November 17, 2017 to see if these rumors hold any true value. If not, the Justice League sequel is scheduled for a release date of June 14, 2019 and the Green Lantern Corps movie plans to hit theaters on June 19, 2020. Don’t worry, you’ll be seeing the famous ringslinger at some point!
Do you hope Green Lantern makes an appearance in the Justice League film? Which version of the character do you think they’ll go with? Let us know in the comments!
