The first trailer for Kong: Skull Island set the tone of this film as an adventure thrill ride with giant monsters and it really hesitated when showing you Kong himself. It was suspenseful and epic in scale. The latest trailer recently released, showed a lighter side of the film. We’re still given all the fear and immense tension that we would expect from a King Kong film, but we’re introduced to John C. Reilly’s character who will likely be bringing all of the comedic relief to the film. The trailer also showed quite a bit of Kong and his fellow monster inhabitants of Skull Island.
Set in the 1970’s, Kong: Skull Island is about a group of scientists and soldiers who are sent to an island in the South Pacific under some false pretenses. The human antagonist of the film seems to be John Goodman’s character, and after seeing his brilliance in 10 Cloverfield Lane, I cannot wait to see him in this movie. Rounding out the cast is Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and this writer’s favorite actress, Brie Larson. You really cannot go wrong with that line-up, can you?
Kong: Skull Island hits theaters on March 10, 2017.
