The Hollywood Reporter caused waves over the weekend when they wrote an article on a Labyrinth reboot.
However, they got it a bit wrong. While there will be a new Labyrinth film, it’s not going to be a reboot or remake.
Nicole Perlman, the original writer for Guardians of the Galaxy and screenwriter for this new movie, took to Twitter to clarify the various internet reports.
Guys, please don’t fall for all the clickbait. No one is remaking “Labyrinth.” That movie is perfect as it is.

Labyrinth is my favorite film from childhood, so I share your concerns that any continuation of the world be handled with love and respect.

Henson Co & I started talking in late 2014, so the timing of these rumors is so upsetting. I would never seek to profit from Bowie’s death.

While the timing is unfortunate, her tweets read as sincere, and I don’t think there’s any intentional disrespect towards the late David Bowie.
As her tweets also reveal, this new film is a “continuation.” Whether that means direct sequel or simply a new story in the same universe remains to be seen, but it’s definitely not a reboot.
I saw Labyrinth for the first time as an adult, so I don’t have the nostalgic attachment to it that I know a lot of other people my age have, and I don’t have strong feelings about another film one way or the other.
But I’m sure you guys might!
So what do you think about a new Labyrinth movie? Do you want to enter this quirky Henson world again? Sound off in the comments!
