Live-Action Little Mermaid Produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda Proves We’re Lucky to Be Alive Right Now

When America sings for you… sing back “Part of Your World.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda must be living in his own personal dream world, because the avid Disney fan-turned-Broadway-star is set to pen the songs for upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid film.

What does this mean? Entertainment industry geniuses are concocting a spell on audiences everywhere that cannot be matched by any Ursula potion.

Alan Menken, who wrote the music for the 1989 The Little Mermaid film – including hits like “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World,” and “Kiss the Girl” – is teaming up with Miranda in producing music that we know will make a big splash in theater and film communities alike.

Miranda is also set to produce the film alongside Marc Platt. It’s clear… Lin-Manuel Miranda is not throwing away his shot! (Hardy har har.)

This film is not to be confused with Working Title’s The Little Mermaid reboot starring Chloe Grace Moretz. Competing The Little Mermaid film’s on the market? As they say, “No big deal. I want more…”

This also isn’t the only Disney film that Hamilton star Miranda is making magic with. He recently penned the songs to Disney’s Moana starring Dwayne Johnson, and is also set to co-star opposite Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns.

So, are live-action reboots taking over? It certainly seems like it, with the recently released Jungle Book, and with Beauty and the Beast and the 101 Dalmatians origin pic Cruella hitting the silver screen in the near future. How lucky we are to be alive right now…

But what do you think? Are you excited for this version of The Little Mermaid? Let us know in the comments!
