Everyone and their grandmother has been playing Pokémon GO, the recent augmented reality mobile game presented by Nintendo.
Deadline reports that due to the massive success of the reinvigorated franchise, Legendary Pictures is interested in developing a live action film based on the property. There are no details as of yet, but Pokémon fans can hopefully expect great things in the future.
There have actually already been nineteen Pokemon films released since 1998, but they’ve all been of the animated variety so far. The United States released five of those film in theaters, with Warner Brothers Pictures distributing the first three.
Along with the popular films and anime, Pokémon is most well well known for its extensive video game selection, as well as a popular trading card game. In fact, it’s one of the best-selling video game franchise in history, selling over 279 million units since the series began.
There’s no doubt that Pokémon GO is the latest achievement for this much loved series. Fans both old and new are enjoying new ways to connect with friends and enjoy time outdoors. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of great things to come.
