Hang onto your harlequin costumes because we’ve heard that Margot Robbie will reportedly play everyone’s favorite femme fatale, the illustrious Harley Quinn, in the upcoming Suicide Squad film.
We previously reported that Robbie was in talks to play the Joker’s dastardly second half, and now Collider is citing unnamed sources to confirm Robbie’s involvement in the film.
With Jared Leto as the contender for the Joker, it only makes sense to cast Harley Quinn sooner rather than later. And what better choice than the Australian actress last seen in The Wolf of Wall Street?
Harley Quinn has been a popular character since her first iteration in Batman: The Animated Series and she’s gone on to become so much more than merely the Joker’s henchwoman. Despite her early beginnings as Harleen Quinzel, the Arkham Asylum psychiatrist who becomes infatuated with the Joker, fans have seen Harley Quinn show compassion and even a softer side throughout her comic life.
Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters in 2016 and has been described by writer-director David Ayer as “The Dirty Dozen with supervillains.”
