Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk to Appear in Thor: Ragnarok in Major Role

Up until this point, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has only appeared in the two Avengers films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (not counting Iron Man 3).

But that’s all about to change.

Deadline reports that Marvel is closing in on a deal for Ruffalo to appear in Thor: Ragnarok. And not just any appearance, a major role.

It’s unclear what the actual role will entail but we’ve seen Avengers crashing each other’s films work wonders before – Black Widow making the already perfect Winter Soldier even better, for example.

According to Devin Faraci at Birth.Movies.Death., Hulk might join Thor for a road trip which could introduce heroine Valkyrie (to which I say: YES!).

So how will other Asgardian characters like Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander), the Warriors Three (Zachary Levi, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano), and Heimdall (Idris Elba) play into this? Not to mention Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. Also unclear – welcome to the business of movies.

However, New Zealand director Taika Waititi (of the brilliant What We Do in the Shadows) has been tapped for this film, presumably to lighten up the script and bring his unique and fun flair to the film.

Everything else is still in the dark regarding this film. Does Ragnarok indicate the supervillain from the comics, originally introduced in Civil War? Or does it refer to the massive event in Norse mythology that resulted in the death of many figures (such as Thor and Loki) and submersion of the world in water (don’t worry – it eventually reemerges!)? Based on the poorly explaine scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron, my money’s on the latter.

Thor: Ragnarok, directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jaimie Alexander, and hopefully many other familiar faces, is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2017.

Are you excited to see Hulk in a Thor film? Do you hope they introduce Valkyrie? Sound off in the comments!
