Marvel and DC Both Developing Sitcoms About Normal People – Let the Rivalry Grow

The rivalry between Marvel and DC suddenly got more heated.

Back in August, it was announced that DC, Warner Bros. TV, and NBC are developing a single-camera sitcom a la The Office called Powerless set within the DC Universe.

The comedy will take place at an insurance company – and you must imagine how terrible that job would be in a world with superheroes where damage is the norm.

The show will come from Ben Queen (A to Z) and is committed to a pilot at this time.

Today, however, Variety revealed that Marvel and ABC are also developing a single-camera sitcom about powerless people in a superhero world.

The series, titled Damage Control, will follow the crew that’s assigned to clean up the fallout from various superhero conflicts, whether it be returning lost items or rescheduling events at venues that were destroyed.

It was developed by Ben Karlin (The Daily Show, Modern Family) and is the second Marvel series currently in pre-production, following the confirmation of a Mockingbird and Lance Hunter spin-off.

There’s no knowing when either show will hit the air nor what familiar characters will appear, but let the rivalry between these very similar shows begin.

Which one are you looking forward to more: Powerless (DC) or Damage Control (Marvel)? Let us know in the comments!
