Season 2 will stream sometime in 2016, once again on Netflix.
In Marvel’s official statement, they reveal that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who worked on Season 1, will be the showrunners for Season 2. They will executive produce as well, along with Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb.
Steven S. DeKnight, who served as showrunner for Season 1, will not return due to previous commitments. However, he thinks the show continues on in good hands:
“I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”
It’s unclear whether or not this was the plan all along but after Daredevil became an instant hit with critics and fans alike, it seemed inevitable. At the end of all thirteen episodes, there’s still plenty of story left to tell.
Daredevil is part of an over-arching Netflix series, Marvel’s Defenders, that continues later this year with Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones. This will be followed by Marvel’s Luke Cage in 2016 and Marvel’s Iron Fist before culminating with Marvel’s Defenders.
