In case you were wondering if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would be in color, rest assured the answer is yes. At least if these new pictures courtesy of Entertainment Weekly are anything to go by! You can check them out below.
This is the best look we’ve had at this film since the teaser trailer, although there’s undoubtedly a chance we’ll learn a lot more after Comic-Con next week!
If we can expect anything from this film, it’s that there will be epic showdowns between Batman and Superman. Affleck brought EW up to speed about where Batman is in this film: “He’s at the end of his run and maybe the end of his life. There’s this sort of world-weariness to it.”
He also made the astute observation that “Batman is basically the American version of Hamlet. We accept that he’s played by actors with different interpretations.”
As we all know, Bruce Wayne can often be found at fancy galas and indeed, here he is meeting Wonder Woman’s alter ego, Diana Prince (Gal Gadot).
“I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crowne Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person,” says Affleck.
This is the second time Henry Cavill dons the role of Superman and he explains that while Man of Steel was about Kal-El learning about Earth and humanity, this film is “more mankind’s perspective of Superman.”
That idea was a heavy theme in the teaser trailer as well.
It’s no secret that the DC cinematic universe is largely considered to be dark and gritty, especially compared to Marvel’s films. From everything we’ve seen, despite the newfound color, this movie will probably follow that trend.
Will this also be an origin story for Lex Luthor going bald?! Because this look from actor Jesse Eisenberg certainly isn’t the villainous Luthor we’re familiar with. Of course, it won’t be the only origin story. This movie is primarily a vehicle to set up the Justice League, after all.
While the film is still wildly up in the air in terms of content and fan reception, it’s nice getting more information about it! But also, where is Alfred?
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Laurence Fishburne, is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
