Peter Jackson Posts Fun Doctor Who Video – Will He Be Directing an Episode?

Peter Jackson, famed director of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, isn’t secretive about his love for Doctor Who.

In 2013, he confirmed that talks about him directing an episode were “serious.”

Fast forward to today when he released a video on his Facebook which reignited those conversations and maybe even confirmed that it’s actually, finally happening. Check it out!

The video is genuinely funny, beginning with Jackson polishing his many Oscars as his daughters reads him his email, including multiple from Who showrunner Steve Moffat imploring him to direct an episode, which Jackson has a lackluster response to.

But Moffat doesn’t give up that easily, because who should show up next but Peter Capaldi himself, hamming it up as the Twelfth Doctor!

He brings a letter from Moffat, which Jackson is supposed to sign immediately. Before he can, however, Capaldi is chased out by a Dalek, leaving Jackson and his daughter to enjoy their favorite sci-fi show in peace… which might not be what you think.

While this doesn’t explicitly verify anything, it is an odd video to share with the 2+ million people who like Jackson’s FB page if he’s not going to have anything to do with the series.

The Doctor Who Season 9 finale airs this Saturday.

Do you want to see Peter Jackson direct an episode of the beloved British sci-fi show? What kind of episode do you hope it is? Let us know in the comments!
