The film, a sequel to the popular 2013 film Finding Nemo, follows Ellen Degeneres’ hit character Dory, the forgetful blue tang fish, on a journey to find her family.
Andrew Stanton returns to co-direct and write the sequel, alongside Angus MacLane who up to this point has only directed shorts. I never feel worried in the hands of Pixar, especially with someone like Stanton at the helm who also brought us WALL·E and has written screenplays for several other Pixar features.
Most of the main cast is returning, including Degeneres as Dory, Albert Brooks as Marlin, and Willem Dafoe Gill. They’ll be joined by new characters such as Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy as Dory’s parents; Ty Burrell as Bailey, a beluga whale; Kaitlin Olson as Destiny, Dory’s adopted sister, a whale shark; Ed O’Neill as Hank, an ill-tempered octopus; and Dominic West and Idris Elba in as of now unknown roles.
The trailer will hit all of your nostalgic feelings the second it begins, with those familiar tunes. It’s hard not to be charmed by these lovable characters once more. I certainly look forward to returning to the big blue next summer!
Finding Dory is set to hit theaters on June 17, 2016.
What do you think of the first trailer? Are you excited to join these characters for an adventure again?
