Make Your Pokémon Wishes Come True with Jirachi!

Celebrations for Pokémon’s 20th Anniversary continue this month with the release of Jirachi!

Jirachi is a third generation mythical Pokémon that was introduced for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire versions way back in 2003. It is a Steel/Psychic dual-type Pokémon, and comes with the ability Serene Grace, which doubles the chance of a move having an added effect. Like Mew and Celebi already released, Jirachi is level 100.

You can receive Jirachi through the Mystery Gift option via Internet on your Pokémon X/Y and AlphaSapphire/OmegaRuby game cartridges for this month only.

Also this week in Pokémon is the news: field trials for Pokémon GO began in Japan on Tuesday. The trials are invitation only and participants are selected through a lottery. The trials are functionally a beta test, with user feedback being incorporated into the final release of the game later this year. Niantic Labs has also indicated that the field test “will expand to other countries in the weeks to come,” though there is no indication yet as to what countries these will be.

The first screenshots of the game and details about how Pokémon GO will work were released last week, and can be found on Pokémon’s official US website. Rather than training Pokémon, you will gain levels as a trainer, which will allow you to find more powerful Pokémon to complete your Pokédex. You will also have the chance to evolve Pokémon and even obtain eggs, so you can hatch new Pokémon you haven’t come across before.

Personally, I’m really excited about Pokémon GO. I’m on tenterhooks waiting for a release date, but given the scale of the project, I can understand why they’re taking their time to get data back from the trials before making any further announcements.

Are you also excited? Let us know in the comments!
