We’ve seen our first look at the villain in the upcoming Power Rangers movie, but what about our heroes?
We know who’s playing the defenders of the earth, but now thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we know how they’re going to suit up to save the day.
Check out our heroes, fully decked out in their new costumes!
If you’re thinking these outfits look radically different, you’d be correct. They’re made of new materials that reveal an interesting mythology and backstory behind the costumes; more specifically, the suits are made of “extraterrestrial armor that crystallizes around their bodies.”
Director Dean Israelite explains the idea behind them:
“The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis. These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.”
It’s very specific that these suits originate with aliens and grow; they’re not man-made in any way.
And though they’re not man-made, I have to admit they do give me definite Iron Man vibes.
Power Rangers, directed by Dean Israelite, is set to debut on January 13, 2017. It stars Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Scott, Becky G., RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, and Dacre Montgomery.
What do you think of the new suits? Sound off below!
