If you love the slick-talking, wise-cracking Merc with a Mouth, it’s time to get excited! It’s official – Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool in the 2016 Deadpool film!
Reynolds himself is more than thrilled, using social media to show his pride:

He posted “Uh… it’s Chimichanga Time,” on Twitter yesterday. Chimichangas are Deadpool’s favorite food and it’s only natural that Reynolds would get back into character through the delicious taste of a chimichanga. On Thursday, Fox confirmed that Ryan Reynolds will return as the titular star, with production beginning in March. Tim Miller is tapped to direct the project.
Ryan Reynolds originally played the Merc With a Mouth in the 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
While fan have continually hoped for a Deadpool film, it was the recent release of the Deadpool test footage that really drove the project for the studios.
The movie will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
