San Diego Comic-Con 2018: DC Universe Says F*** Batman on Day 1

It has begun! Day 1 is in the books, and it was full of surprises and reveals. There were trailers debuted, shows announced, and very much more. So, without any further hesitation, let’s get into today’s breakdown of the biggest news to come from the biggest convention of the year!

BIGGEST ENTERTAINMENT STORIES

The most news came from announcements within the DC Universe. The new streaming service from DC Comics debuted the first trailer for their original series, Titans, which will feature Dick Grayson as Robin and Raven as a team of young heroes. The trailer showed us a much more adult and mature version of these fan favorites and a darker, grittier world for them to exist in. News also broke about a new live-action series from Geoff Johns centered around Justice Society member Stargirl. Plus, DC Universe revealed the price for their monthly subscription fee as $7.99 or a yearly fee right now of $79.99.

Marvel held a panel for the upcoming second season of Iron Fist that featured Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick joined by Simone Missick and Alice Eve. During the panel, fans were treated to a few incredibly action-packed fight scenes (heavy on the martial arts) and some surprising and shocking moments that will leave fans with their jaws on the floor. One of the big reveals was that Alice Eve is actually playing villain Typhoid Mary. It was also announced that the show would debut on Netflix on September 7.

COLLECTIBLE NEWS

WWE and Mattel held a panel today that featured WWE Superstars AJ Styles, Becky Lynch, Matt Hardy, Curt Hawkins, and Zack Ryder. They debuted brand-new figures for Curt Hawkins, Asuka, DX Triple H, and each of the NXT faction Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish). They also announced new retro-style figures for current superstars and the introduction of chase figures for a few of the new lines coming very soon. And there will be a Woken Matt Hardy figure that comes with several accessories from the Ultimate Deletion, including Vanguard 1 and the Dilapidated Boat.
