San Diego Comic-Con 2019: New Phases and Smiling Faces on Day 3

Welcome to the busiest day of San Diego Comic-Con. It was slow to start but business picked up in a big way throughout the day. Crowds made the mad dash for their favorite booths to get their exclusive collectibles and then make all the best and most exciting panels. While it’s no fun watching from home, we’ve got you covered with all the latest headlines and need-to-know news from the big con. Sit back, grab a beverage, and let’s get started!

Tales from Hall H & Ballroom 20

On the TV side of things, Ballroom 20 was the place to be for all The CW superhero show panels. The Arrowverse took the stage by storm and hit their loyal fans hard and heavy with sizzle reels and news galore. The cast of Arrow said goodbye to the Ballroom as they head into their final season and what might be the biggest crossover event yet with the 5-episode Crisis on Infinite Earths. Brandon Routh from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has been confirmed to be portraying the Kingdom Come version of Superman and Burt Ward will be part of the cast as well. Ward (for those who might not know) is best known for playing Robin in the 1966 Batman TV series alongside Adam West. Also confirmed form the Batwoman panel was that Batman villain Hush will be appearing as part of the rogue’s gallery coming for Kate Kane in the upcoming debut season.

Outside of capes and tights, we also got brand spanking new trailers for the highly anticipated series Picard and a new trailer for season 3 of Westworld which was full of delightful scenery, vague dialogue, and mysterious intrigue! The Picard trailer blew Trek fans away when a few familiar faces popped in to say hello to the good Captain. There was also a new trailer for the HBO series Watchmen which had fans wanting more.

And the big movie news came from Marvel Studios today. They unleashed their slate for Phase 4 and even included casting news. Phase 4 will kick off with Black Widow. Kevin Feige confirmed that the Doctor Strange sequel will be titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness alongside Scarlet Witch. Feige also confirmed The Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Thor: Love and Thunder which was also confirmed to see the return of Natalie Portman and even teased her wielding the hammer Mjolnir. Feige also teased the Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2 and the Mutants. Finally, he brought out Mahershala Ali to announce to the world that he’ll be playing the titular role in an upcoming Blade film.

Marvel Legends and The Bat

Hasbro kept the news churning along today with more Marvel Legends figures were displayed at their booth. A pair of Vehicles toys were on hand which featured Cosmic Ghost Rider and Squirrel Girl. Also at the booth were a new line of X-Men figures celebrating some of the classic characters like Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Havoc, Polaris, and Dani Moonstar of the New Moonstar. They also previewed Morph, Strong Man Build-A-Figure, Weapon X (Age of Apocalypse), X-Man (Age of Apocalypse). Finally, they had Deadpool and Hit Monkey Two-Pack, Deathlok, Vulture, The Punisher, She-Hulk, Shang-Chi, and Doctor Doom.

Over at the Quantum Mechanix booth, they were showing off their latest statue featuring the Bat-Family. You can pre-order it now and it features Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, and Robin (Damien Wayne) running together on a rooftop stylized to depict their various personas in a childlike form. Did it get Cool at the Entertainment Earth Booth? Rob Liefeld and Billy Dee Williams Sign at booth #2343

Today at the booth we welcomed Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld to the booth to talk about everything he’s working on now and to show him the Entertainment Earth Deadpool Jack-In-A-Box. We also had Lando Calrissian himself, Billy Dee Williams to sign autographs and meet with droves of fans before he returns to the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Our best sellers at booth #2343 today were the Lando & Nien Nunb Tiki Mug 2-pack, the Metallic Green Giant & Sprout Funko Pop! 2-Pack, the vinyl hard protector case, and the Beetlejuice Wooden Push Puppet.

We’re in the home stretch kiddos. Tomorrow is the last day of San Diego Comic-Con 2019 and while we’ll all be sad to say goodbye, we’re looking forward to another full day of celebrities, comics, and collectibles!
