The second trailer for Terminator: Genisys dropped today with a whole slew of spoilers and plot twists. While the first trailer was a straight-forward, exciting introduction to the semi-reboot, this trailer presents the plot more clearly – and may split fans. Watch it below.
Here’s what we already know: in the future, John Connor (Jason Clarke), the savior of humanity, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in time to save his mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), from an attack orchestrated by Skynet. Arnold Schwarzenegger also runs with Sarah Connor.
It seems pretty straightforward, or at least it did until this trailer was released.
Now we know that John Connor has been turned into a cyborg and that his relationship with his mother is at the heart of the film.
It’s certainly a bold move for the film to take, and one that will definitely garner very different reactions from fans. It shifts John Connor’s pre-destined heroics into something else entirely.
There’s also a rumor that Matt Smith’s character will be a big twist in the film.
Terminator: Genisys is set to come out on July 1, 2015. Alan Taylor directs with Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons, and Byung-hun Lee starring.
What do you think of the big twist? Are you excited for the film? Sound off in the comments!
