Star Wars: Episode VIII Official Title Revealed!

Today, Lucasfilm gifted Star Wars fans with the official title for Star Wars: Episode VIII and a new teaser poster! The title for the next installment of the Skywalker Saga is Star Wars: The Last Jedi and it’s already causing debate over the internet. Is Luke Skywalker the last Jedi? Does the plural use of the word Jedi make Luke and Rey (and others) the last of the Jedi?

We can look to the opening crawl of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to possibly find the answer.

“Luke Skywalker has vanished. In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed.”

If that’s not enough proof, we also have a line in the film from Supreme Leader Snoke using the same title of the next film:

“The droid will soon be delivered to the Resistance… leading them to the last Jedi.”

While the evidence seems to indicate that Luke is the last Jedi, we’ll have to wait until December 15, 2017 to find out for sure!
