How Resident X-Wing Pilot Heartthrob Poe Dameron Survived The Force Awakens

After Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out in December, there were several breakout characters, but none in quite the same way as Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron, mostly because of his lack of screentime.

That lack of screentime is the clearest indicator that in the original script, Poe was supposed to die.

After a crash landing on Jakku, and a mysterious, miraculous recovery, Poe shows up later in the film, a bit out of nowhere.

So how did the resident X-Wing pilot of our hearts survive? Director J.J. Abrams and company discuss this in one of the upcoming Blu-Ray special features titled Secrets of The Force Awakens, but if you just can’t wait, here’s a teaser:

Bless you Oscar Isaac for speaking up and keeping this beautiful, flirtatious Resistance pilot in our lives.

It does raise the curious question, however, of what Poe’s overall presence and importance in this universe will be. It would be a travesty if Poe were not to be in the future films, but I’m sure he will be. The question is in what capacity? Many people, myself included, consider him, Finn, and Rey the new trio, and I can only hope that ends up being the case.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits shelves on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 5, 2016.

Are you glad Poe Dameron survived? What do you hope to see of him in the future? Share your thoughts below!
