Next Star Wars Trailer May Have Some Familiar Faces: We Give You Permission to Cry

It’s been nearly two months since the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiered, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting more. It seems Disney and LucasFilm have heard our cries and we’ll be getting the second trailer, as many suspected, with Disney’s other big franchise, Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The news comes from the Latino Review and, if true, it means we’ll see more footage from the most anticipated movie of the year at the start of May. Or more likely, the end of April, which is when Avengers is set to premiere in many other countries. Undoubtedly the trailer for The Force Awakens will hit the internet then (thanks, internet!).

That’s not all, however. The Latino Review also reports that Luke, Han, and Leia – our original trio – will also appear in the new trailer. They were noticeably absent from the teaser trailer, which was a very smart move on Abrams and co.’s part.

While the original trio are all in Episode VII, that’s all they’re reported to be in and even then, they’ll likely be handing the torch off to our newcomers. It’s smart to get audiences, who are very attached to these characters, interested in new characters like Finn, Rey, and Poe first. We are about to join them on their adventures for the next several years, after all.

Still, seeing the original trio (and perhaps other original trilogy characters like Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2) is going to excite all of us. It’ll be hard to focus on anything for a while but the excitement over seeing these characters again, after it’s been so long. Hopefully the new trailer will also allow us to confirm, or put to rest, various rumors surrounding them.

It’s going to be a long but exciting year and we can’t wait.

How excited are you for this second trailer? Where do you think Luke, Han, and Leia are these days? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
