Tapestry Artwork for ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ Revealed

Tapestry

Tolkien fans have something to be excited about this September, even though the highly-anticipated The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is not expected for release until December. Expect a wave of feels, as this new tapestry artwork for the final installment of The Hobbit trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies, depicts scenarios that will surely make your heart ache! This newly released piece of artwork is a huge widescreen depiction of the upcoming film that includes our favorite characters encountering a range of tribulations on their quest to defeat the evil Smaug.

First, we have the viciously angry Smuag destroying Laketown, with Bard standing in front of him, in the midst of flames. Next to it, there’s Elrond with Saruman right behind him and Gandalf with Galadriel in what appears to be Dol Guldur. Then there’s Thorin sitting on the throne of Erebor with Bilbo looking at us. Next we have the elves, Legolas and Tauriel, with Thranduil on his elk, leading the Elven army.

And the part that will make you gasp: Thorin, Fili and Kili in action, with Azog standing in the background. Finally, Bilbo and Gandalf, swords at the ready, going into battle. If you’re a fan of the books, then you must know the agony of viewing this particular piece of tapestry. Feels trip, anyone?

Director Peter Jackson revealed at Comic Con that he is considering releasing a six-film box set of all of his Tolkien films, once Battle of the Five Armies is released.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, starring Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sir Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Lee Pace, Orlando Bloom, and Luke Evans, will be released on December 12 in the UK and December 17 in the US.
