Tweeterhead is doing it again. The manufacturer of fine statue collectibles has leaked a preview of their latest work of art, a lifelike and detailed statue of Vladimir Dracula, Count of Transylvania, better known as Grandpa Munster.
This statue is a 1/6 scale reproduction of Grandpa, seated in his famous electric chair. It is presented in full color, which present promotional materials of the time featured, though the show was originally aired in black and white. The serious collector will be interested in the black and white edition of the statue, of which only 113 individual pieces will made. This is an exciting opportunity to plan on right now.
The success of the character of Grandpa Munster actually goes back further than the television show, as the characterization was loosely based on a previous character played by the same actor. Grandpa Munster was played by the character actor, Al Lewis, with expert comic timing and personality. He was often the foil of Herman Munster, played by Fred Gwynn. The two actors originally made comedy together in the sitcom Car 54, Where Are You?. The characters that they played had a similar chemistry, and it was something that they wanted to capture in the next series they could get together. The very next year, they were cast in the classic monster-themed sitcom The Munsters.
While not available yet, we encourage you to stay tuned for details on this new statue as they emerge.
