{"id":18207,"date":"2015-04-02T08:01:50","date_gmt":"2015-04-02T16:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=18207"},"modified":"2023-01-24T08:13:29","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T16:13:29","slug":"leonard-nimoy-and-spock-documentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/leonard-nimoy-and-spock-documentary\/","title":{"rendered":"New Documentary About a Green Blooded Hobgoblin for Star Trek 50th Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A month has passed since <strong>Leonard Nimoy&#8217;s<\/strong> death and his son, <strong>Adam Nimoy<\/strong>, announced to <em>Variety<\/em> that he will be directing a documentary titled <em>For the Love of Spock<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the current reboot films, will narrate and David Zappone, the owner and president of Paramount-based 455 Films, will produce.<\/p>\n<p>The film is in part a dedication to Leonard Nimoy, as well as a celebration of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?theme=Star+Trek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Star Trek<\/strong><\/em><\/a> which turns 50 next year. Its first episode aired on September 8, 1966.<\/p>\n<p>According to Adam Nimoy, this is a project that he and his father discussed together before Leonard Nimoy&#8217;s passing. Adam Nimoy told <em>Variety<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This will be a tribute to my dad and Spock. We have plenty to work from because my dad loved telling stories and he was very fond of the role.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>William Shatner, Captain James T. Kirk in the original series, is said to appear in the documentary as well.<\/p>\n<p>While Adam Nimoy plans to use conventional film financing for the project, reports <em>Variety<\/em>, he&#8217;s not opposed to fan fundraising through a platform like Kickstarter.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Nimoy began his career as an entertainment lawyer before becoming a TV director. He directed episodes from TV series like <em>NYPD Blue<\/em>, <em>The Practice<\/em>, <em>Ally McBeal<\/em>, and <em>Gilmore Girls<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Are you looking forward to this documentary?
