It was only a matter of time before the Disney<\/a>\/Pixar<\/a><\/strong> film The Incredibles<\/em><\/strong><\/a> got a sequel. It is the dawn of superheroes in Hollywood, after all.<\/p>\n

The sequel was confirmed last year and director Brad Bird<\/strong> (who also directed the first one) recently told Collider<\/em><\/a> that it’s his next project.<\/p>\n

The film he’s been working on, Disney’s Tomorrowland<\/em><\/a>, comes out on May 22nd and then his sights turn to the Parr family.<\/p>\n

However, it sounds like he’s been thinking about The Incredibles 2<\/em> for a while:<\/p>\n

“Oh yeah I have pages, a bunch of pages. I had a lot of ideas for the original Incredibles that I didn\u2019t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn\u2019t enough time in Incredibles. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie. I\u2019m just focusing on getting Tomorrowland out into the world and playing with the Incredibles sandbox again.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Brad-Bird\"<\/a> Bird is a talented director, both of animation and live-action, so we think “interesting” is just scratching the surface. His other work, such as The Iron Giant<\/em> or Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,<\/em> can attest to this.<\/p>\n

He was even approached to helm a Star Wars<\/em> film back before J.J. Abrams was picked for The Force Awakens.<\/em> He commented:<\/p>\n

“Well Kathy (Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm) and I have discussed the possibility of\u2014I mean she\u2019s basically saying this is a very large sandbox and other people can play in it. I was particularly attracted to the idea of picking up and\u2014J.J. got very excited about the notion of shaping the next trilogy, and that idea was interesting to me too. But I kind of\u2014I\u2019m writing a sequel to The Incredibles and I can\u2019t think too much farther beyond that. I have other things I want to do as well.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It sounds like the door definitely isn’t shut for Bird, but that he has plenty of work to focus on if Star Wars<\/em> doesn’t happen.<\/p>\n

Either way, we look forward to every movie he puts out and we’re definitely excited for The Incredibles 2.<\/em><\/p>\n
