{"id":24584,"date":"2015-07-02T09:34:56","date_gmt":"2015-07-02T16:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=24584"},"modified":"2023-01-17T14:08:44","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T22:08:44","slug":"first-look-at-ash-vs-evil-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/first-look-at-ash-vs-evil-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"First New Look at Ash Williams in Evil Dead Series Is Groovy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This fall, Starz will host a new supernatural series with the premiere of <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?theme=Evil+Dead+%2F+Army+of+Darkness&amp;id=EN-407186506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ash vs. Evil Dead<\/a>!<\/em><\/strong> Based on the cult films <em>Evil Dead<\/em> and <em>Army of Darkness,<\/em> the series takes place 30 years after the last film and reunites star Bruce Campbell with creator Sam Raimi.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ew.com\/article\/2015\/06\/26\/ash-vs-evil-dead-exclusive-first-image-bruce-campbell-back-ash?hootPostID=1bd2858ee067cbe869a1640993d1bd3e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>,<\/em> we have our first look at the series:<\/p>\n<p>Ash Williams is back in a big way and we couldn&#8217;t be more excited. He&#8217;ll be facing demons again and this time he&#8217;s joined by Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana Delorenzo), who work with him at Value Stop.<\/p>\n<p>Is that all he&#8217;s been up to since we last saw him? Pretty much, according to Campbell:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;He was perfectly happy doing basically nothing: telling lies about how he lost his hand in bars late at night. That was basically his MO. So, he\u2019s not really the guy who should be dealing with this right now. But&#8230; he is. He\u2019s our guy!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He definitely is our guy &#8212; and the guy who unleashes trouble on the world again. Raimi explains: &#8220;He\u2019s the only one stupid enough to really tamper with those spirits. And he does. But he\u2019s also still a really good monster fighter. So, he\u2019s also going to be kicking some deadite buttocks, if you\u2019ll pardon the French.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Raimi directed the first episode of the series.<\/p>\n<p>About the series, Campbell says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It\u2019s &#8216;The Searchers&#8217; with carnage and mayhem. I\u2019m relegated a little bit into the John Wayne mode these days with my team\u2014the young, virile, evil fighters who will pair up with Ash and take on this nemesis: this never ending, ever evolving nemesis.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Next week, the series will get its first big coverage at San Diego Comic-Con with a panel on Friday, July 10th in Room 6A at 6pm. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, and Lucy Lawless are all expected to be there.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ash vs. Evil Dead<\/em> will premiere on Starz this fall with 10 episodes.<\/p>\n<p>Are you excited to see Ash Williams take on deadites again?
