The success of Daredevil<\/em> Season 1<\/a> paved a good start to Marvel’s<\/strong><\/a> Netflix presence to tell the story of The Defenders, a group of street-level crime fighters who band together as a team.<\/p>\n The next Defender to get their own series is Jessica Jones,<\/strong> played by Krysten Ritter<\/a>.<\/p>\n Previously titled AKA Jessica Jones,<\/em> the Fall 2015 Netflix series finally has a release date (November 20th) and a teaser trailer, which you can watch below! It’s a pretty awesome trailer, with the same gritty aesthetic as Daredevil<\/em> but with some notable differences too.<\/p>\n The heavy purple tone is not just an artistic choice – the main villain of the series is David Tennant<\/a> as Zebediah Killgrave aka the Purple Man. I could be mistaken, but we may also hear him shouting her name around the :31 mark.<\/p>\n There’s a lot more to glean from this trailer, showing just how many layers it has.<\/p>\n Unlike Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Jessica’s already done the superhero gig by the time this series begins. Now, suffering trauma from her days as a superhero, she becomes a detective (check out the camera lenses at :12) and opens Alias Investigations (:24).<\/p>\n From this trailer, it looks like the series will be heavily steeped in noir which sounds awesome and I can see why Brian Michael Bendis, the creator of Jessica Jones, says he loves the series<\/a>.<\/p>\n This series is part of the larger Defenders story and will introduce our third Defender as well: Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who becomes romantically involved with Jessica, and will get his own Netflix series in 2016.<\/p>\n This will be followed by an Iron Fist series (the fourth and final Defender), Daredevil<\/em> Season 2<\/a>, and finally culminate with Marvel’s Defenders.<\/em><\/p>\n Jessica Jones<\/em> will hit Netflix on November 20th. It stars Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Rosario Dawson (returning from Daredevil<\/em> as Claire Temple), David Tennant, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville, Wil Traval, and Erin Moriarty.<\/p>\n Are you excited for Jessica Jones?<\/em> What do you think of the trailer?
