UPDATE 9\/24:<\/strong> Ridley Scott has announced that the title for his Prometheus<\/em> sequel will be Alien: Paradise Lost.<\/em> So despite not connecting to the Alien<\/em> franchise yet, the title might draw in more people.<\/p>\n Ridley Scott<\/strong> is a director with a lot of projects under his belt, some better than others. One of his best is the 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien<\/a>,<\/strong><\/em> which he plans to continue over the next handful of years.<\/p>\n If you’ll remember, Neil Blomkamp<\/strong> will direct the next Alien<\/em><\/a>, while Scott is going to continue with Prometheus,<\/em> the 2012 prequel that was more confusing than anything else.<\/p>\n So will a Prometheus<\/em> sequel finally explain its connection to Alien?<\/em> Well. Ehhhhh.<\/p>\n In speaking to the German site FilmFutter<\/a> (and translated by The Guardian<\/em><\/a>), Scott explains it won’t be the next film that connects the universe: “It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise.”<\/p>\n Whew, okay. Scott expects us to have a lot of faith, it would seem, waiting for a payoff that could be years away.<\/p>\n However, he does give the impression he’s given this universe a lot of thought, which is promising:<\/p>\n “The whole point is to explain the Alien franchise and how and why the creation of the aliens. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n It could turn out to be completely worth it, but that’s asking a lot of the audience, who overall had a lackluster response to the first Prometheus<\/em> (Michael Fassbender not included).<\/p>\n You can next see Ridley Scott’s directing chops with The Martian,<\/em> which hits theaters next Friday, October 2nd.
