We complain about the picks that were snubbed, and celebrate the surprise inclusions. It doesn&#8217;t often happen that a movie can be so big it&#8217;s retroactively added after the fact.<\/p>\n<p>But then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/starwars7.asp?utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\"><em><strong>Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/strong><\/em><\/a> happened.<\/p>\n<p>The Critics&#8217; Choice Awards nominations were announced on December 14, before <em>Star Wars<\/em> came out. When the film was such a massive success, the association asked its members to vote on whether or not the film would have made their top 10 had it been released earlier.<\/p>\n<p>And it looks like the answer was yes, because <em>The Force Awakens<\/em> was added as the 11th Best Picture nod for the show! It joins the following movies:<\/p>\n<p><center><em>The Big Short<\/em><\/center>Bridge of Spies<\/p>\n<p>Brooklyn<\/p>\n<p>Carol<\/p>\n<p>Mad Max: Fury Road<\/p>\n<p>The Martian<\/p>\n<p>The Revenant<\/p>\n<p>Room<\/p>\n<p>Sicario<\/p>\n<p>Spotlight<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unlikely it will actually win, but it&#8217;s exciting that it was included at all. Hollywood, especially recently, has a habit of looking down on blockbusters when it comes to award season. It <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/2015\/02\/23\/the-oscars-and-superhero-blockbusters\/\">didn&#8217;t always<\/a> used to be this way, and seeing movies like this and <em>Mad Max<\/em> get nominated is promising (and hopefully not a fluke).<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t an indication of whether or not these films will get an Oscar nod, but we can hope!<\/p>\n<p>Not to mention <em>Star Wars&#8217;<\/em> inclusion will probably help ratings.<\/p>\n<p>The 21st Annual Critics&#8217; Choice Awards will air on January 17 on A&amp;E.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think about <em>Star Wars&#8217;<\/em> last-minute inclusion?
