Celebrations for Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s<\/em> 20th Anniversary<\/strong><\/a> continue this month with the release of Jirachi!<\/p>\n

Jirachi is a third generation mythical Pok\u00e9mon that was introduced for Pok\u00e9mon Ruby<\/em> and Sapphire<\/em> versions way back in 2003. It is a Steel\/Psychic dual-type Pok\u00e9mon, and comes with the ability Serene Grace, which doubles the chance of a move having an added effect. Like Mew and Celebi already released, Jirachi is level 100.<\/p>\n

You can receive Jirachi through the Mystery Gift option via Internet on your Pok\u00e9mon X\/Y<\/em> and AlphaSapphire\/OmegaRuby<\/em> game cartridges for this month only.<\/p>\n

Also this week in Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> is the news: field trials for Pok\u00e9mon GO<\/em> began in Japan on Tuesday. The trials are invitation only and participants are selected through a lottery. The trials are functionally a beta test, with user feedback being incorporated into the final release of the game later this year. Niantic Labs has also indicated that the field test \u201cwill expand to other countries in the weeks to come,” though there is no indication yet as to what countries these will be.<\/p>\n

The first screenshots of the game and details about how Pok\u00e9mon GO<\/em> will work were released last week, and can be found on Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s<\/em> official US website. Rather than training Pok\u00e9mon, you will gain levels as a trainer, which will allow you to find more powerful Pok\u00e9mon to complete your Pok\u00e9dex. You will also have the chance to evolve Pok\u00e9mon and even obtain eggs, so you can hatch new Pok\u00e9mon you haven\u2019t come across before.<\/p>\n

Personally, I\u2019m really excited about Pok\u00e9mon GO.<\/em> I\u2019m on tenterhooks waiting for a release date, but given the scale of the project, I can understand why they\u2019re taking their time to get data back from the trials before making any further announcements.<\/p>\n
